
Kentucky State University Hosts Annual Legislative Fish Fry
Frankfort, Ky (March 20, 2024) - Hundreds of students, community members, faculty, staff and alumni gathered on Kentucky State University’s campus to celebrate Kentucky’s elected officials at KSU’s annual Legislative Fish Fry.
Members of the General Assembly, as well as other state and local elected officials, are hosted on campus at the Legislative Fish Fry to enjoy a meal together and learn more about KSU’s students and programs. College of Agriculture students showcased their research, including posters recently presented at Posters-at-the-Capitol and at the Aquaculture America Conference as well as KSU’s signature offerings were on display including the Mobile Disaster Response Unit, Precision Agriculture Trailer for drone demonstrations and many more.
“We are so thankful for our policy makers support,” said KSU’s President Dr. Koffi C. Akakpo. “Our future is bright and we owe it to all students to ensure KSU is an innovative and leading institution.”
Appetizers made from trout and tilapia raised in KSU’s aquaculture facilities were available to all guests including recipe cards. Angela Caporelli from the Kentucky Department of Agriculture prepared shrimp sourced from Fischer’s Family Farm in Daviess County.
“KSU’s students, faculty and staff are so proud of their work and we highlighted many of the accomplishments our legislators this evening,” said KSU’s Interim Land Grant Director Dr. Avanish Tope.
Food items included catfish, beef brisket, hushpuppies, french-fries, green beans, coleslaw, and macaroni & cheese. Pawpaw fruit from the KSU Harold R. Benson Research and Demonstration Farm was utilized to produce Pawpaw cake and ice cream for guests to enjoy.
