English department hosts poetry slam, highlights student talent


The Department of English hosted its annual Poetry Slam and Meet & Greet on April 11, highlighting the talent of Kentucky State University’s students, faculty, and staff. Thirteen students performed during the event and a panel of judges determined the following winners: 

First Place: Toccara Bozeman – freshman from Douglasville, GA, majoring in physical education and health – teaching concentration.

Second Place: Donatien Mugisha – freshman from Maheba, Zambia, majoring in business administration.

Third Place: Precious Johnson – sophomore from Nashville, TN, majoring in psychology.

Honorable Mention: Shaneice Brown – freshman from Indianapolis, IA, majoring in psychology.
