Kentucky State students receive honors for posters at Kentucky Academy of Science
Two undergraduate students, Malik Thompson and Michael McLeod, were among the top scoring student presentations at the Kentucky Academy of Science annual meeting in November.
Both presentations received the highest “Thoroughbred” rating. Thompson’s oral presentation in the mathematics category was titled, “Foundations and Applications of Singular Value Decomposition.” McLeod’s poster in the health sciences category was titled, “Specific Drugs Illicit Distinct Pathways in Drug Reaction with Eosinophilia and Systemic Symptoms (DRESS) Syndrome.”
Both students are research assistants at Kentucky State University.
“KSU has helped me by giving me the access to the MATLAB software package and giving me the needed access to a very helpful mentor and advisors who were able to help me put the project in place,” Thompson said.
