KSU Board of Regents sworn in, alumnus appointed chair

During a special-called meeting on April 27, Kentucky State University officially welcomed new Board members. Dr. Gerald Patton ’69 was appointed Board chair; Dr. Herman Walston, who also serves as the Faculty Regent, was appointed vice-chair of the Board; and, Elise Borne, a paralegal in General Counsel at Kentucky State, was named Board secretary.

“For those of us who have been on the Kentucky State campus, there is a building called Carver Hall. Emblazon over the entry is ‘Enter to learn. Go out to serve.’ For over 50 years, I’ve learned, gone out to serve, and now coming back to serve our institution,” shared Patton in his closing remarks. “I am full of hope for us and all of the challenges that we confront.”

He expressed excitement about the array of talent on the new Board of Regents adding that he counts it, “a privilege to serve with all of you to share in our efforts to really take seriously this matter the future of Kentucky State University”

Ernie Fletcher, Edward Hatchett, Jason Moseley, Dr. Charles Moyer, and Robert Ramsey Sr. were also a part of the newly sworn-in regents.
