Kentucky State University professor co-authored article in Global Journal of Emerging Market Economies

A Kentucky State University professor of economics recently co-authored an article in the Global Journal of Emerging Market Economies.

Dr. Abdul M. Turay, professor of economics in the School of Business, co-authored “Do Trade and Poverty Cause Each Other?” in the January 2022 edition of the journal.

“The purpose of the paper was to employ an econometric technique to identify the presence or absence of causalities between international trade and poverty in BRICS countries,” Turay said.

Prior to coming to Kentucky State University in 2012, Turay was a visiting research professor at the executive Ph.D. program at Jackson State University; provost and VPAA at Tougaloo College; dean of research and graduate studies at Western Carolina University and Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville respectively. Turay also served as chair and professor of economics at Radford University, and professor of economics and international trade at Mississippi State University. At Mississippi State, Turay also served as Assistant to the Provost and VPAA.
