Happy holidays, Thorobreds.

It was great to see so many of you during the Faculty & Staff Holiday Luncheon. Despite one of the most challenging times in the 135-year history of this institution, you came together in generosity and collegiality for a wonderful program and luncheon.

The spirit you brought to the luncheon is consistent with your steadfast efforts this semester. Drawing inspiration from those who came before us, we show up every day on the Hill to ensure our students receive access to a world-class yet affordable education.

Students, we often say that we wouldn’t be here without you, but it's true. You are the lifeblood of the Thorobred. As you add semester after semester of your academic careers during a deadly pandemic to your life experience, you continue to show your resilience and determination to achieve what you set out to do: to change your life by earning a college degree despite any obstacles. Nothing can take away this hard-earned equalizer, no doubt sweeter after earning it in a pandemic.

To our entire University community, please remain safe during this time away from campus. Exercise the same caution and care around your friends, family and loved ones that you do here on the Hill. Wear your mask indoors. Get vaccinated if you haven’t already or get your booster if you qualify. Continue washing your hands often. We want you to return in January in good spirits and good health.

Thank you all for making Kentucky State University great. Happy holidays and we will continue the work at hand, together, in January.
