Kentucky State University Acting President Clara Ross Stamps recently announced a 100 percent vaccination rate among members of the President’s Council and academic deans.
Stamps said members of the President’s Council and the academic deans provided leadership through their actions and hopes the campus community will take note and take action.
“It’s important as leaders that we don’t just talk about, we be about it,” President Stamps said. “At Kentucky State, we have leaders who have been an inspiration to the campus community and the HBCU community at-large by getting vaccinated and practicing caution throughout the pandemic. We need the campus as a whole to join suit by getting vaccinated and wearing masks in all indoor spaces regardless of vaccination status.”
Kentucky State University has partnered with Wild Health throughout the pandemic to provide testing and vaccinations to the campus community and surrounding areas.
President Stamps said Kentucky State is one of many HBCUs stepping up to be part of the pandemic solution, as they serve the community that is at greatest risk of contracting and dying from COVID-19.
“We applaud the individuals and groups on campus who have done their part to mitigate the risk of this pandemic,” President Stamps said. “However, it will take 100 percent effort from the campus community as a whole to better protect ourselves and each other.”
