Kentucky State University Mighty Marching Thorobreds formally recognized as one of the baddest bands in the land
Everyone on the Hill knows the Mighty Marching Thorobreds are the baddest band in the land, but The Undefeated recently formally confirmed what Thorobreds already know.
In The Undefeated HBCU band rankings, Kentucky State was labeled as a program on the rise as it broke into the publications rankings for the first time.
“We are extremely honored to be considered amongst the best in the HBCU band world,” Alvin Level, director of bands at Kentucky State University, said in The Undefeated. “My students work extremely hard daily to produce quality shows. It’s great to be recognized and honored by my peers.”
Kentucky State ranked fourth overall in the Division II rankings, but earned the top ranking in three of the five categories used for determining the overall rank. Kentucky State ranked first in auxiliary, drum major, and pictures, drill and design. Kentucky State ranked behind Miles College, who ranked second overall, and who will face off against Kentucky State in the Capitol City Showdown Friday, Oct. 22 at Alumni Stadium. Doors open at 6 p.m.
