Students, faculty, staff, alumni and special guests gathered on a limited basis in-person for the coronation of the 92nd Miss Kentucky State University and 28th Mister Kentucky State University in Carl H. Smith Auditorium in David H. Bradford Hall Oct. 7.

“To my Kentucky State University, thank you for welcoming me with open arms from the day I stepped foot on campus for high school day,” Dezyree’ Marie Fields, the 92nd Miss Kentucky State University, said. “I remember the day like it was yesterday. It was the first and only visit I needed to make my final decision on making this my new home. The smiles, the love and the atmosphere was indescribable. To my Thorobreds here on the Hill today, you are the reason I wear this crown.”

Fields’ achievements at Kentucky State include being a member of the League 24 Presidential Ambassadors and a member of the Alpha Pi chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Sorority, Inc.

“To be a true Thorobred is to be part of a long line of history, activism and civil rights leaders,” Christian Xavier White, the 28th Mister Kentucky State University, said.  “To be a true Thorobred is to be royalty. My peers, my colleagues, administration: you all are royalty. A true Thorobred is to be a person who is about action, not excuses. No matter what we are faced with, we make it happen.”

White’s campus involvement and achievements include membership among Kappa Pi Art Society, the National Honors Society and the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, as well as captain of the cheerleading team.

Fields is a social work major with a minor in speech from Indianapolis, Indiana. White is a communications major with a focus in public relations from Mississippi.
