Kentucky State University qualified as a finalist for the 2021 KEMI Destiny Award

Kentucky State University recently qualified as a finalist for the 2021 KEMI Destiny Award.

According to Kentucky Employers’ Mutual Insurance (KEMI) website, “The Destiny Awards are presented annually by KEMI to policyholders that best exemplify KEMI’s motto, ‘Control your own destiny.’ The awards symbolize what can be accomplished when organizations work together to improve workplace safety.”

Kentucky State earned a 0.79 experience modifier rating after a recent audit by KEMI officials of safety practices on campus. Anything lower than a 1.0 rating is considered a good rating by KEMI. According to Kentucky State officials, the 0.79 rating is the lowest Kentucky State has ever scored.

As a result of this score, Kentucky State now qualifies for the 2021 KEMI Destiny Award, which indicates, according to the KEMI website, that “policyholders who earn the KEMI Destiny Award effectively demonstrate to KEMI their ability to manage a formal safety program, provide on-site training and regular safety meetings for employees, and display an ongoing commitment to safety from all levels throughout their organizations.”
