Two Kentucky State University alumni were recently inducted into the Frankfort Independent Schools (FIS) hall of fame for the classes of 2020 and 2021.
Henry Kemp, who had a long and distinguished career teaching industrial education at Kentucky State University and Prairie View A&M, was inducted into the class of 2020. Kemp was also a beloved teacher and coach at Mayo-Underwood, teaching shop, coaching football and basketball, directing the Glee Club and building sets for the school’s drama classes.
William Washington, also a class of 2020 inductee, played basketball at Kentucky State and later overseas. Washington was one of the most legendary basketball players and was inducted into the Frankfort High School athletics hall of fame. Following his playing career, he had a distinguished teaching and coaching career in Virginia.
