A Kentucky State University alumnus recently earned a master’s degree from John Hopkins University. 

Byron Brown graduated from John Hopkins University with a master’s degree in teaching writing. Brown is the first African American male to receive that degree from John Hopkins University. 

The degree becomes Brown’s fourth master’s degree, while also matriculating a Ph.D. in higher education administration from Liberty University.  

Brown holds a master’s degree in English from Southern New Hampshire, a master’s degree in political science from Western Michigan University and a master’s degree in public administration from Kentucky State University. 

Brown’s thesis was titled, “Pedagogies that Matter in Teaching Writing to African American Secondary and Post-Secondary Students in 21st Century America.”
