The Kentucky State University interim chair of the School of Humanities and Performing Arts was recently appointed to the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) nominating committee.
Dr. Lori C. Hicks, in her third year at Kentucky State, will serve on the committee. Kentucky State has been a NASM member for 40 years.
“I am excited to serve NASM and to become more involved in the inner workings of the organization,” Hicks said. “I’m interested in understanding how to lead and prepare our department better in an ever changing musical society and to receive additional support in that endeavor.”
Hicks said she is grateful to Dr. Isaiah McGee for nominating her and trusting what she has to offer for the organization.
“I’m grateful to NASM for the opportunity to grow and to have a voice,” Hicks said.
Hicks also serves on the board for Black Music Experience TV, a former board member and member of various committees in the National Association of Negro Musicians and South Eastern Theatre Conference (SETC).
