Kentucky State University alumnus and Frankfort native to direct Obama produced film


Kentucky State University alumnus and Frankfort native George C. Wolfe is adding to his storied career by directing “Rustin,” a Netflix film produced by Barack and Michelle Obama’s Higher Ground Productions. 

“Rustin” will tell the story of civil rights activist Bayard Rustin, who organized the 1963 march on Washington. 

Wolfe is currently garnering attention for his recent work as director for “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,” also a Netflix film.  

Wolfe has also directed “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks,” “You’re Not You,” “Nights in Rodanthe” and “Lackawanna Blues.” Wolfe has appeared as an actor in “Ramona and Beezus,” “The Devil Wears Prada,” “Garden State” and “Fresh Kill.” He has also directed and produced an extensive number of theatrical works.
