YMCA and Kentucky State University announce partnership
Frankfort, KY (November 20, 2020) - The YMCA of Central Kentucky is pleased to announce
a new partnership with Kentucky State University that will give Frankfort YMCA members
access to the indoor pool at the William Exum Center beginning Monday, Nov. 30.
The Exum Center features an eight-lane, 25-meter indoor pool versus the YMCA’s existing four-lane 25-yard pool at the downtown Frankfort Y. This is a great opportunity for the YMCA to expand its aquatic programming and have more space for lap swimming, water aerobics classes, and swim lessons. The pool hours will be Monday-Fridays, 6 - 10 a.m. and 4 - 7 p.m. and Saturdays, 8 a.m. - noon. The schedule can be found on the Y’s website at ymcacky.org/schedules. All Kentucky State University and YMCA COVID-19 safety policies and procedures will be followed by members when visiting the Exum Center.
“This partnership allows us to provide a better facility for Frankfort members and to operate more efficiently,” said Paula Anderson, president and CEO of the YMCA of Central Kentucky. “It also allows us to better focus on identifying resources that will allow us to build the Y’s future in Frankfort."
“We’re very excited to have this new partnership with KSU and appreciate the cooperation of Dr. M. Christopher Brown II and his team,” Anderson added.
“Kentucky State University is proud to partner with the Frankfort YMCA to continue its strategic mission and direction to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of programs that benefit members and the Frankfort community,” said Kentucky State University’s President Dr. M. Christopher Brown II.
In addition to having access to the indoor pool at Kentucky State; all Frankfort YMCA members will continue to have access to the Prevention Park YMCA in Frankfort, along with access to any of our four YMCA locations in Lexington.
Aquatic programming at the downtown Frankfort YMCA will end at noon Saturday, Nov. 21. Programming in that facility will be reassessed when COVID-19 restrictions are lifted. The YMCA of Central Kentucky is focusing its time and resources into the forthcoming for the Y in Frankfort, remains committed to serving the community, and will continue to explore all possible partnerships to ensure the Frankfort community continues to thrive.
