Kentucky State University’s acting provost and vice president for academic affairs was recently selected to participate in the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) 2020 Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) cohort.

Dr. Beverly Schneller will participate in the newly restructured program. Schneller said she’s very grateful to Kentucky State University President M. Christopher Brown II for recommending her for the program.

“First and foremost, I am delighted to have the chance to make others aware of all the good work we do here at Kentucky State University,” Schneller said. “As I go through the program, I hope to bring back to the University knowledge and methods used by other campuses to address emerging issues in higher education.”

Schneller said each person in the cohort has a specific project.

“Mine is on better understanding of how to leverage state appropriations to support the key performance indicators (KPIs) that influence state and federal funding,” Schneller said. “In the short term, the project has the potential to grow our understanding of how we might link these KPIs to retention and graduation; and in the long term, this same project will inform aspects of our strategic planning activities from now through 2025.”

The program will begin with a monthly webinar in July. An in-person portion of the program is scheduled for January 2021.
