Kentucky State University recently received approval from the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education (CPE) Committee on Equal Opportunities to submit new academic program proposals for approval during the 2019-20 academic year.

Kentucky State submitted a diversity report to receive the approval.

Dr. Derek Greenfield, vice president for student engagement and campus life, as well as chief diversity officer, put together a team to work on a diversity plan.

“This revised plan now provides the University with a more clearly defined and meaningful pathway to growing our diversity and increasing the practice of inclusive excellence at Kentucky State University,” Greenfield said. “I am particularly excited to witness the collective enthusiasm about developing new policies and programs in these areas, and I know that cultural proficiency will become the standard at Kentucky State.”

The approval will allow Kentucky State to develop innovative and dynamic majors and minors that best prepare its students for relevant careers, Greenfield said.
