Kentucky State University was recently named one of Kentucky’s best online colleges by OnlineColleges.com.

Kentucky State ranked ninth in the state, based on factors such as tuition and fees, distance education participation percentage and the number of programs offered.

“Since its inception, Kentucky State University has steadily grown to the point where, during a typical academic year, the composition of its students and faculty stands out as one of the most diverse populations in the Commonwealth,” according to the OnlineColleges.com website. “To accommodate its diverse student body, the university offers online programs, allowing students to meet their education and career goals from home or abroad.”

According to its website, OnlineColleges.com said Kentucky State offers a surprisingly large number of online courses that can be taken semester to semester.

“With these classes, students can turn many of the university’s normally on-campus programs into hybrid options in order to fit them into their schedules,” according to its website. “Whether part of a fully online program or not, the online courses at Kentucky State are delivered through the Blackboard online learning system.”

OnlineColleges.com used data from the National Center for Education Statistics’ Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS). Other factors that influence the rankings are accreditation, affordability, online growth, accessibility, online resources and student satisfaction.
