One Kentucky State employee enjoys using his vast experience in financial aid to improve services to students on campus.

Jerry Davis, associate director of financial aid, has 35 years of experience in financial aid at seven different colleges and universities, including as the system director of financial aid for the Kentucky Community & Technical College. Davis has also worked as a financial aid consultant for Ellucian Banner and helped with 18 implementations.

“I feel I still have a lot to offer in the financial aid field,” Davis said.

Davis said he most enjoys providing students and parents with assistance in finding the right financial aid package to attend Kentucky State.

“I enjoy analyzing data reports that will improve the services we provide in the financial aid office,” Davis said. “I love working at Kentucky State University. I have the best financial aid director in Russelle Keese. I believe God has me here to expand my territory and ‘for such a time as this.’”

Outside of his career, Davis has been singing in a southern gospel trio for the past 12 years.

“Early on we traveled to several churches in Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee and Alabama,” Davis said.

Davis has a bachelor’s in Christian education from Liberty University and a bachelor’s from the University of Southern Indiana in sociology and accounting.

“You don’t go to college for a degree in financial aid,” Davis said. “It was a natural fit for my background in accounting and social work.”
