Kentucky State University recently received a 2019 Youth Garden Grant for its unconventional urban garden submission.

According to an email from grant officials, Kentucky State was chosen because of the exceptional nature of the work it is doing to enhance the lives of youth.

The grant has a nearly $600 value and includes items such as a net tunnel, a rain wand, a seed-saving kit, a hand tool package, a bag of organic fertilizer, a mobile green wall, a curriculum package and a $100 gift certificate to Gardener’s Supply.

Kentucky State was one of 25 organizations selected for a grant among over 800 applicants from around the country. The award packages are intended to start new or expand existing youth garden programs.
