Kentucky State University graduate won national broadcast award

A recent Kentucky State University graduate recently earned a national journalism award.

Garrick “Ricky” Foxhall Jr., won second place in the best radio promo/PSA category in the Pinnacle College Media Awards for the 2018-19 academic year.

“Ricky’s award is a huge deal for us because it is only our second year participating in the CMA Pinnacle awards,” Dr. David Shabazz, associate professor of journalism, said. “Mass communication and journalism as a major at Kentucky State didn’t start until 2007. This shows that in a few short years our program has grown to the level where we can compete and win against students at larger universities.”

The Pinnacle Awards were announced during the Fall National College Media Convention in Washington, D.C. recently.
