Posted on August 29, 2018

Kentucky State University Upward Bound program officials recently identified the inaugural recipients of the program’s scholarship.

Four students received the scholarship, as they transitioned from the Upward Bound program to Kentucky State University.

Ayiona Mays-Clark, Elijah Best, Sabrina Charcho and Katelyn Rios are the first recipients of the scholarship, which covers half the cost of tuition, standard housing and meals.

Upward Bound is currently accepting applications for new members into its program. Students must be first-generation and/or low-income or at-risk for academic failure. Prospective candidates must also be in grades nine through 11 and attend Franklin County High School, Western Hills High School or Frankfort High School. For more information, call (502) 597-5525.
