Members of the Danville alumni chapter recently visited campus bearing gifts for different areas of Kentucky State University.

James Dunn, chapter president, first stopped at Alumni Stadium to purchase tickets for students to the Kentucky State University night at Whitaker Bank Ballpark during a Lexington Legends game. The $500 gift purchased 50 tickets that were later distributed to Kentucky State University students.

Next, Dunn stopped at the Office of Institutional Advancement and presented a donation of $1,000 to the Permanent Alumni Scholarship (PAS) Fund. The Permanent Alumni Scholarship Fund was established in 1990 to serve as the Kentucky State University National Alumni Association’s official vehicle for soliciting funds and for providing scholarships to eligible students attending Kentucky State University.

Finally, Dunn presented a $1,000 scholarship to three students from the Danville area. The Danville alumni chapter presents the scholarship annually. Funds come from money raised during the chapter’s annual golf tournament.

Cora Teets, Tyus Short and Russell Sims each received a scholarship from the Danville alumni chapter.

Dunn said the chapter is happy to help and encourages students in the Danville area to apply for the scholarship.
