Encampment 2019 to focus on SACSCOC Reaffirmation

Kentucky State University President M. Christopher Brown II will welcome back the campus community when he convenes faculty and staff January 7-8 for Encampment 2019.

The two-day event kick starts the second half of the academic year for Kentucky State. Encampment brings together Frankfort community leaders, faculty, staff, students and alumni in finding new and effective ways of developing ideas, pursuing innovative strategies and applying knowledge for the public good.

According to President M. Christopher Brown II, Encampment will focus on Kentucky State’s upcoming SACSCOC Reaffirmation.

Encampment seminar leader Dr. Joseph H. Silver Sr. has earned a reputation as a transformational and innovative leader with great vision and principled ethics. He is the president of Silver & Associates, a full-serviced education consulting firm. The firm has a 15-year track record of assisting colleges and universities with solving complex problems, accreditation issues and developing sound strategic planning. Silver previously held positions as vice president of Commission on Colleges for SACS, president at Alabama State University, provost and vice president for academic affairs at Clark Atlanta University, professor of political science at Savannah State University and assistant vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University System of Georgia.

Encampment begins at 8 a.m. Jan. 7 in the Carl M. Hill Student Center Ballroom. This public event includes continental breakfast and lunch. Participants are encouraged to wear their favorite Kentucky State shirt and jeans; however, professional portraits are available Jan. 7-8 for faculty and staff. Participants wishing to take a professional portrait should dress accordingly.
