FRANKFORT — Kentucky State University’s M.A.D. Fashion Show is making both fashion and social statements, as event organizers are collaborating with the ACCESS Soup Kitchen and Men’s Shelter. The community-service event that blends elaborate styles will hit the runway at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 4 in Little Bradford Auditorium. Doors will open at 5 p.m.

M.A.D. stands for “Making a Difference.”

Donations are a driving force of the event. More than 75 fashionable looks have been donated by the University’s faculty, staff, and students. The show also will feature looks donated by Frankfort businesses. Capital Plaza’s hair stylists, who also are donating their services, are giving the models a professional touch. The male models also will get expert styling from a former KSU student and barber Chris Barnett.

Applebee’s and Johnny Carino’s will be among the restaurants that are donating food and refreshments after the fashion show. Bryant’s Pic Pac provided a $25 gift card toward the event.

The University is continuing its mission to pay it forward: Additional clothing items will be donated to the participants from the shelter.
