FRANKFORT – Operation Turnout’s United States Senate Forum will be held at 2:30 p.m. in Bradford Hall Saturday, October 8 at Kentucky State University.

Senator Rand Paul of Bowling Green (R) and Mayor Jim Gray (D) of Lexington have both indicated that they will participate in the U. S. Senate candidate Q&A  portion of our program.  Third District U. S. House candidates, Representative John Yarmuth (D) and Harold Bratcher (R), and 6th District U. S. House candidates, Representative Andy Barr and Nancy Jo Kemper (D) have been invited to participate in a post-forum panel discussion, as well.

Moderators Patrice Muhammad and Lezell Lowe, of The Key NewsJournal and Key Conversations, and long-time journalist Valeria Cummings, will be asking questions of these candidates that are designed to better clarify where the candidates stand on the issues that impact people of color, the underrepresented and economically challenged the most.

Organized on August 21, 2010, Operation Turnout is a non-partisan social justice organization that increases community participation in the citizenship process by helping people become more informed and engaged.  This is accomplished through voter registration, voter education and citizenship initiatives.

Last year, Operation Turnout hosted the first-ever Gubernatorial Candidate Forum hosted on the campus of Kentucky State University and all candidates were in attendance.
