Kentucky State University’s 2016 Spring Commencement will be held at 9 a.m. on May 14 at the Frankfort Convention Center. Major General Peggy C. Combs will serve as the keynote speaker at the formal occasion.  The public is invited to join the University on this special day as we congratulate our graduating students on their academic success.

Major Combs was commissioned a Regular Army second lieutenant in the United States Army Chemical Corps in May 1985, as a distinguished military graduate of the Reserve Officer Training Corps Program at Syracuse University, Syracuse, N.Y.

Throughout her 29-year service tenure, she has served in a variety of leadership and staff positions at the tactical, operational and strategic levels. She is the first female general officer from upstate New York and the first general with ties to USS Oriskany since Brigadier General Nicholas Herkimer of the Revolutionary War.

Combs’ military education includes the US Army Command and General Staff College, and the US Army War College. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Syracuse University, a Master of Science degree from Saint Mary College, and a master of Strategic Arts degree from the US Army War College.
