International Thorobreds: Former South African President Nelson Mandela has an honorary degree
Thorobreds are everywhere including Soweto, South Africa.
Last August, former chairperson of Health and Physical Education and Assistant Athletics Director M. Dianne Murphy was impressed to find a Kentucky State University honorary degree awarded to freedom fighter and anti-apartheid icon Nelson Mandela during her visit to Soweto.
Mandela was awarded the Doctor of Humane Letters on June 27, 1990, and the degree was signed by Dr. John T. Wolfe, the 10th president of KSU. Mandela died in 2013.
