Kentucky State University's Student Support Services Grant Renewed

Posted on August 20, 2015

Kentucky State University’s Student Support Services Program has received funding to continue its programming through a grant from the U.S. Department of Education.

“The renewal of the Student Support Services grant will allow KSU to continue to serve our students in excellence through a personalized and comprehensive support program for low-income, first-generation students,” said Dr. Erin Wheeler, Assistant Vice President for Academic Support.

Student Support Services (SSS) Program competitions are held every four years and SSS grants are funded for five-year grant award cycles.

“SSS participants will have access to meaningful cultural experiences, life-skills workshops, academic coaching, personalized counseling, caring mentors, and a community of supportive peers. The program has a proven track record in student success as our SSS scholars have higher grades and graduation rates as compared to non-participants,” Wheeler said.

SSS is currently enrolling new participants for the 2015-2016 academic year.  To apply or to refer students to the program, contact SSS Counselor Jacqueline Ford at Jacqueline.Ford@kysu.edu or (502) 597-7780.
