Bio:
Dr. Angela Williams serves as Chair and BSW Program Director of the School of Social Work at Kentucky State University. With extensive experience in school social work, trauma-informed care, and systemic advocacy, she brings a long-standing commitment to serving children, families, and communities. She holds BSW, MSSW, and DSW degrees from the University of Kentucky and is a certified School Social Worker, licensed infant massage instructor, and Certified Trauma-Informed Wraparound Facilitator.
Her professional background includes work in substance abuse services, crisis intervention, and psychosocial case management. A dedicated advocate for educational equity and student empowerment, Dr. Williams’s teaching philosophy—“dreams don’t work unless you do”—reflects her mission to inspire future social workers through experiential learning, reflective practice, and leadership development.
At KSU, she has held multiple leadership roles, including Director of Field Education and Faculty Senator. She actively contributes to accreditation processes, curriculum development, and community-based partnerships that support student success and social impact.
Dr. Williams’s recognitions include the Legacy Visionaries Award (2024), the Dr. Evelyn J. Black Social Work Award, and completion of both the Kentucky Faculty Leadership Academy and the CSWE Program Director Academy. She is a proud member of CSWE, Phi Alpha Honor Society, and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
