Library Cataloging Area

The Cataloging area is one of four areas of Collection Management Services. The focus of the Cataloging area is to provide online bibliographical, holdings and authority access to the KSU Library Catalog, through cataloging, database maintenance, holdings, and authority control. The librarian catalogs a wide variety of materials, such as books, periodicals (both print and full-text), government documents, serials, curriculum and audiovisual materials, Internet/digital resources, Special Collection materials, and archives. The library’s materials are cataloged according to national cataloging standards with MARC 21 records, Library of Congress classification and Library of Congress subject headings. Online cataloging tasks are performed daily via the OCLC Metadata module of the OCLC WorldShare Management Services system.

Faculty and students who desire certain materials (that are currently ordered or being processed) can request these materials. To request such materials, please send an email message to the Catalog Librarian along with the bibliographical description of the item. If at all possible, please allow three work-days once the item is received in the Cataloging area.
