Student Spotlight - Cheryll Eskridge

Name: Cheryll Eskridge

Hometown: Chicago, Illinois

Classification: Junior

Major: Business administration with a specialization in marketing

Why Kentucky State? I chose Kentucky State because not only was it close to home, but it also felt like home.

What is your major and why did you choose this area of study? I chose business administration because I’ve always been critical of the ads I saw in media. I would think of different, creative ways that I could grab people’s attention by highlighting the best parts of something.

Who inspires you and why? The people who inspire me are my grandmother and mom. I’ve seen both of them beat the odds and become wonderful women. With everything that they’ve been through, they made sure that I knew nothing would ever be handed to me. I must always work twice as hard to get half of what everyone else has.

What do you plan to do when you graduate? I plan on moving to Houston, Texas to continue my education at one of my top three business school choices. After that, I would like to work for one of my top three marketing/advertising agencies.

Words to live by: “You have to be comfortable with being uncomfortable. That’s the only way you’ll be able to grow.”
