Student Spotlight - Blake Nichaé Scott

Name: Blake Nichaé Scott

Hometown: Indianapolis, Indiana

Classification: Senior

Major: Business Administration

Why Kentucky State? I attended a high school that only had three percent black students. I believe they are now at five to eight percent, but still not much. During my high school years, I started visiting my older sister at her HBCU and fell completely in love. I wanted to learn more about my culture and be accepted into it. I started looking into schools and knew I wanted to attend an HBCU. I specifically chose Kentucky State University because it was close to home, an HBCU, and I felt accepted. The Kentucky State family welcomed me and I felt I could be myself.

What is your major and why did you choose this area of study? My major is business administration. I don’t plan to start my own company, but I want to use my major to work in the admin department of the federal government. Luckily, I got a scholarship that assists me with that.

Who inspires you and why? My inspiration comes from my sisters. My two older sisters inspire me to chase after my dreams and achieve my goals like they have done. The younger sisters push me to keep going and remind me that I am setting a standard for them.

What do you plan to do when you graduate? As mentioned, I was blessed to get a scholarship to help me with school and my career. I have been able to intern with the government every summer. The next step is to obtain a full-time job with the federal government and eventually reside in Washington D.C.
