Preparation for Graduate Admission Tests

Several external online resources are available to help you prepare for graduate admissions tests, such as GMAT, GRE, etc.  We encourage you to utilize them as you prepare to meet a key requirement for graduate admissions.

ETS offers both the GRE, PRAXIS, and TOEFL test. For more information on these test, please refer to their web page ETS.org for more information on taking these test. They also offer scheduling and preparation resources for these test through their web page.

The GRE Test:

Several graduate programs at Kentucky State University do require GRE scores for admission. It is recommended that you schedule a test before you apply. Preparation material and a link to sign up to take the GRE can be found the ETS web page https://www.ets.org/gre. A quick search will also provide several links for test preparation.

English Language Proficiency Testing

Kentucky State University teaches all classes in English. Because of this we require all international students to provide evidence of proficiency in English. If you come from a country where English is the official language or a university where instruction is done in English, or have successfully completed an English as a second language program we just need the information on this factor. If not we require student to take, and have satisfactory scores on either the TOEFL or IELTS test.

The TOEFL test is administered through ETS services and resources on the test and preparation materials can be found at https://www.ets.org/toefl.

The IELTS test information can be found at https://www.ielts.org/en-us. Again other preparation resources can be found through a search for test prep material.

All scores need to be sent to Kentucky State University or GradCAS to be included in your application. Kentucky State University does require a copy of the official test scores sent by the testing agency be provided for review. Self-reported scores are not considered official and can only e used for preliminary review of your application.

 PRAXIS for Teachers

The Praxis test is required for admission to the MA in Special Education program at Kentucky State University. Please refer to the program information page for specifics on what Praxis test are required.

Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT)

The GMAT test is not currently required for the MBA program at Kentucky State Univrsity.
