Program Objectives

Create a closer partnership between USDA and 1890 Institutions.

Attract more outstanding minority students to professional careers in agriculture, forestry, and related areas.

Upgrade the physical facilities on the campuses.

Broaden the research capabilities of the Institutions.

Strengthen the 1890 University and College faculties.

Enhance the competitiveness of agricultural sciences and the mission of USDA.
Primary Roles and Responsibilities of ALOs
-
Provide expertise on USDA programs.

Coordinate USDA and 1890 programs and activities.
-
Student recruitment and career counseling.
-
Serve on local, state, and national committees and boards.
-
Provide teaching assistance.
-
Support outreach initiatives.
