Coach Farrier Announces First Recruiting Class

Frankfort, KY (02/01) - Kentucky State University head football coach Fred T. Farrier announced the 2006 Thorobred recruiting class at Alumni Stadium on the campus of Kentucky State University.  "We feel that we addressed some very specific needs for our football team that should help us improve as a football team.  We think these young men will give us a chance to take a big step forward in 2006 as we prepare to compete for the SIAC championship and a berth into the national playoffs," said Coach Farrier.

The class includes 25 student-athletes from 7 states, highlighted by 11 student-athletes from the state of Kentucky.  Of the 11 student-athletes from the state of Kentucky, 4 are from Frankfort, 4 from Louisville and 2 are from Lexington.  The state breakdown includes 11 from Kentucky, 8 from Ohio, 2 from Illinois and 1 from Georgia, Indiana, Mississippi and Michigan.  The class also includes 4 student-athletes from the city of Frankfort.  The positional breakdown of the class includes 3 offensive linemen, 3 wide receivers, 1 quarterback, 3 running backs and 1 tight end on offense.  Defensively, there are 4 defensive linemen, 5 linebackers and 5 defensive backs.

"It is very exciting thinking about how well-rounded this class is for our program.  I truly believe a significant number of these young men will contribute right away.  The other great thing to note about this class is that half of them are from the state of Kentucky.  I really believe we did a decent job of trying to get out in the state of Kentucky and let people know that this program was headed in the right direction," said Coach Farrier.
