The Kentucky State University Athletic Department and the Men of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. assisted KSU’s Department of Facility Services Jan. 29 in removing snow from the university’s sidewalks after Kentucky was hit hard during a winter storm, closing the university for three days.
“The Athletic Department is not just about sports,” said Sterling Steward, interim athletic director. “It’s about being a representative and leader of the university. What better way of setting an example of leadership than clearing the walkways of the school so that students, faculty and staff will have a place to walk without fear of falling?”
The men of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. also pitched in, showing that their fraternity is not just about stepping, it is also about service. The Ques also helped shovel the university’s sidewalks and clear paths to building entrances.
Thorobred Pride was shown on this day of devastating winter weather and was appreciated by all when classes returned to normal the following day.
