What is Information Literacy?

 
Succinctly, Information Literacy is the ability to know when information is needed, find, evaluate, and use the appropriate information. (ALA)

One does not become information literate overnight. It takes practice.

Why Students need to be information Literate
With the proliferation of information sources, students need direction on how to critically evaluate information.  Being information literate is not only acquiring academic skills but also life skill that students need in both personal and professional arena.
