Acquisitions

The Acquisitions Unit, one of four units that make up Collection Management Services is located in room 143 of Blazer Library. The focus of the Acquisitions Unit is to order and facilitate payment for library materials as well as to evaluate donated items for possible inclusion in the Library's Collections. The Acquisitions unit, in conjunction with the Head of Collection Management Services, is also responsible for the coordination of the Library’s collection development activities, with collaborative input from faculty in the academic units via the Library's Liaison program, and following the guidelines of the Library's Collection Development Policy. The Acquisitions Unit works closely with the Catalog Librarian to provide appropriate and timely bibliographic access to materials throughout the order process.

Faculty and students who wish to place order requests for books or other items may do so by completing the submitting the Collection Management Services Order Request Form.  For "Rush" items, please allow three workdays (Monday-Friday) after the item is received in the Acquisitions Unit for completion of processing. To check on the status of a requested item, please contact the Acquisitions and Resource Planning librarian at (502) 597-6862.
