To qualify for the program student must meet either of the following criteria:
1. First generation college student
2. Meet the 2008 income guidelines for low-income households
3. Ninth grader at risk for academic failure (possess a grade point average below 2.5, scored below proficient on Math, Science or English on state assessment test, have not taken Pre-Algebra, Algebra I or Geometry by the end of their eighth grade year).
4. KSU Upward Bound requires each applicant to possess a grade point average of 2.5 in order to be considered for the program.
Each applicant is required to submit a copy of their parent(s) 2008 tax returns along with the application. Parents who do not have a tax return should contact our office and we will be glad to assist you with this matter. We also require two teacher recommendations. Teacher recommendations are included on the applications.
Please make sure your application is complete and accurate. Students whose applications are falsified will not be considered for participation or terminated from the program indefinitely. |
