The Whitney Young School of Honors and Liberal Studiesencourages students to take advantage of the opportunities available tothem through Kentucky State University’s membership in two consortiumsthat provide study abroad experiences. The Kentucky Institute forInternational Study (KIIS) and the Cooperative Center for Study Abroad(CCSA) both offer a wide variety of study abroad opportunities. In thepast, Whitney Young School has been able to provide scholarship grantsin aid to assist students in funding study abroad. CCSA offers summer and winter break programs,semester-long programs, and internship programs in English-speakingcountries. CCSA is currently offering programs in the followingcountries: Australia, Belize, Canada, England, Ireland, New Zealand,Ghana, Jamaica, Scotland and South Africa. KIIS offers a wide variety of summer andsemester study abroad opportunities in non-English-speaking countries.Only a few programs require previous foreign language skills, and manyoffer language instruction at different levels. Programs range from twoto six weeks and many offer family stay opportunities.
