The new exhibit on display in the Visitor and Information Center features seven quilts by local quilt artist Martha Jo Stamper. It runs through September.
The exhibit includes two portrait quilts, one is the likeness of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the other is of Harriet Tubman. The remaining quilts use African-inspired fabrics and designs. The quilts are highlighted with selected African art pieces.
The Visitor and Information Center is part of the Center of Excellence for the Study of Kentucky African Americans and is open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday on the first floor of Julian Carroll Academic Services Building.
