Mr. Tehran Jewell joined Kentucky State University in January 2001 and currently serves as an Area Agent in Financial Management for the Small Farmer Outreach Training and Technical Assistance Program. As an agent he is responsible for providing technical information to cooperators in the assigned counties, developing outreach concepts, and assisting in one-on-one training and assessment data for small and limited resource farmers across the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Multiple reoccurring visits and the delivery of technical information, not excluding educational tours and conferences, provides an opportunity for farmers to utilize fact-based data , techniques, and opportunities streamlined for smaller-enterprise farms and farm families.
Mr. Jewell has been an educator of SCV (Small Commercial Vegetable) enterprise acceptance on-farm in the region. He has delivered cause-effect reasoning as to why small farming is sustainable, advising farmers markets in the region. Jewell serves as extension advisor for multiple markets and has helped new markets in becoming sound.
Farmer networking, business plan & cash-flow analyses, farmer recommendations, and coordination of shared-use equipment are duties of this agent’s past, present, and future.
Mr. Jewell is a graduate of the University of Kentucky’s College of Agriculture and received a degree in Agricultural Education. |
