George F. Antonious, Ph.D.

 

Dr. George Antonious received his Ph.D. in Pesticide Chemistry and Impact of Pesticides on Environmental Quality from the University of Alexandria, Egypt. He worked as Research Director at the Plant Protection Research Institute, Alexandria, Egypt 1984-1989. He has supervised graduate students in their Master’s and Ph.D. thesis research projects.

At KSU, Dr. Antonious teaches biology courses, environmental science and bioremediation techniques to graduate and undergraduate students, and he has conducted instrumental analysis and undergraduate research projects since 1991.

Dr. Antonious has published more than 90 scientific manuscripts and book chapters on environmental quality. His research career has focused on development of biofilters for reducing pesticides and heavy metals in runoff water arising from agricultural fields; pesticide residues and mitigation techniques; soil amendments as natural fertilizers; soil enzymes; glucosinolates, capsaicinoids, and methylketones for pest control.
