Mission Statement

“Preparing Students for Global Citizenship”

Through its General Education/Core Curriculum, Kentucky State University strives to broaden and deepen each student’s educational experience by providing each of them an in-depth exposure to contemporary international issues, by instilling in them a sound knowledge of and a deep appreciation for foreign cultures, by providing them a global outlook on problems occurring both locally and abroad, and by enhancing intercultural communication and fostering mutual respect and understanding.

This curriculum will, through its objectives, prepare students to more fully understand and better analyze global challenges of the twenty-first century, prepare students for future success in careers on an international level, transform Kentucky State University into a world-conscious campus, create and promote an environment where global interdependence permeates all levels of the campus community, and further diversify the international student population.

Objectives
The Office of Global Education and Programs will

  1. support student participation in study and service abroad and international exchange programs;
  2. support faculty and administrator study, teaching, and research abroad;
  3. internationalize the campus community through curricular and co-curricular programs; and
  4. coordinated delivery of international programs and services to students.

Services
Promotes KSU student, faculty, and administrator participation in exchange and study abroad programs as well as other international educational experiences through various academic consortia.

  1. Promotes global learning by promoting student study abroad and faculty seminars abroad.
  2. Ensures University and foreign (F-1) student compliance with Federal regulations under SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System).
  3. Provides foreign (F-1) students benefits under CIS (Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services), SSA, and IRS regulations.
