University Computing Facilities
University computer labs provide technological resources for academic purposes to the students, faculty, and staff of Kentucky State University. Lab Managers may request that patrons show their KSU ID for authorization purposes.
Under the supervision of Lab Managers, we strive to provide a learning environment that is clean, quiet, and conducive to academic pursuits. To ensure the quality of the computing experience, all users shall abide by the following policies:
Network:
Each authorized user has a unique user name and password. Attempting unauthorized access to computer networks is a violation of federal and state law.
Computers:
Report any problems with the computer equipment immediately to the Lab Manager on duty. Only authorized technicians are to move or make modifications to lab equipment.
Software:
Each computer is loaded with licensed, University-approved software. Downloading and/or installation of other programs is prohibited. Only authorized technicians may install licensed, University-approved software.
Printers:
Users may print assignments and term papers. Printers are not to be used for other purposes.
Conduct:
Food and drinks are not permitted. Any behavior that impedes others from completing their coursework or creates a hostile environment is prohibited. Children must be supervised by the parent/guardian and comply with lab policies. Unattended children are placed in the care of University Police. Personal belongings left in the lab are placed in a Lost & Found box. The managers are not responsible for lost/stolen items.
Your compliance with these policies is anticipated and appreciated. However, if and when infractions of these policies occur, Lab Mangers will remind the person(s) involved of the lab policy. Unwillingness to comply with the policy will result in requesting the person(s) to leave the facility. If this request is refused, Lab Managers will call the University Police.
