A message from the Vice President
for External Relations and Development
The Division of External Relations and Development has several major priorities. It aims to enhance the image of Kentucky State University, to reach its diverse constituents, and to increase the university’s external and internal support. The division has four major units: the offices of Development, Alumni Relations, External Relations, and University Graphics.
Development’s primary responsibility is to cultivate relationships with foundations, corporations, and alumni in an effort to advance KSU and also to acquire funding that will assist the university in carrying out its mission. Ways of giving to KSU include the alumni annual fund, employee campus campaign, planned giving, and Vision 2020, which solicits contributions to the university’s endowment.
Alumni Relations is the university’s link to alumni. The office has the chief responsibility of maintaining an alumni database, communicating alumni and campus news and activities, and communicating the interests and concerns of alumni to KSU’s administration. As part of University Advancement, the office also participates in cultivating and soliciting alumni gifts for the university’s giving programs. Overall, Alumni Relations assists the university and alumni in staying connected in a positive relationship.
External Relations seeks to foster relationships with the community and the media. And finally, University Graphics is a complete publication service that provides typesetting, design, layout, and printing. The office’s central goal is to ensure uniformity of publication standards and to provide quality publications in house.
Thank you for visiting the Division's pages. I welcome your feedback and your partnership with Kentucky State University for a successful year.
Hinfred McDuffie
