CESKAA Director

Anne ButlerDr. Anne S. Butler earned a Ph.D. (1990) and M.S. (1979), College of Education, Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS. Areas of Specialization - race and gender in education, heritage studies, and cultural resource programming and management. She serves Kentucky State University as Director of the Center of Excellence for the Study of Kentucky African Americans, and Associate Professor in the Whitney Young Honors College.

Her career spans over 25 years of higher education experience in administration, teaching, research and service. Prior to the current position, Dr. Butler served as:

Director and Assistant Professor, Women''s Studies Program, College of Arts and Sciences, Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS. August 1992 - June 1996.

Director, Women''s Educational Equity Project, Department of Curriculum and Policy Studies, College of Education, Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS. September 1986 - December 1987.

Director and Assistant Dean, Educational Supportive Services, Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS. June 1978- June 1992.

Since coming to Kentucky State University in 1996, Dr. Butler has been very active in professional and community service. Among the groups that she has worked with as a board member are: the Kentucky Historical Society and the Kentucky History Center, the Kentucky Historic Preservation Review Board, the Kentucky Book Fair, theAfrican Cemetery No. 2 Board, the Camp Nelson Heritage Board of Directors and the Kentucky African American Heritage Commission.
