This guide is presented as a master list of the manuscript and photographic collections of the Center of Excellence for the Study of Kentucky African Americans (CESKAA). Many of the collections have only preliminary inventories, but all of the collections have at least limited access. Collection topics include education, civil rights, journalism, politics, literature, theatre, music, horse racing and other sports, religion, the history of Kentucky State University, and family histories. Information from the collections has been used by authors, journalists, genealogists, historians, students, academics, legislators, and state agencies for publications, documentaries, family histories, exhibits, academic research and other uses.
