APPROPRIATE USAGE POLICY
PURPOSE: This document constitutes a university-wide policy for the appropriate use of all Kentucky State University (KSU) computing and network resources. It is intended to provide effective protection of individual users, equitable access, proper management of those resources and the data residing thereon. These guidelines are intended to supplement, not replace all existing laws, regulations, agreements, and contracts, which currently apply to those resources. Access to the University’s technology resources is a privilege and all users have the responsibility to make use of these resources in an efficient, ethical, and legal manner.
COMPUTER SOFTWARE POLICY
PURPOSE: To ensure that Kentucky State University (KSU) is in legal and ethical compliance in the acquisition and use of computer software on University system.
PASSWORD POLICIES NETWORK AND EMAIL
PURPOSE: To provide a secure work environment for data storage area. To ensure that users can only access resources to which they have proper authorization with a login id and a password.
USE OF UNIVERSITY ELECTRONIC MAIL (EMAIL)
PURPOSE: To provide guidelines concerning access to and disclosure of electronic email messages sent or received by employees who use the electronic mail system and on the proper use of the electronic mail system generally. Users are reminded that all usage of KSU’s information technology resources, including electronic mail, is subject to all University policies including the information technology appropriate usage policy.
IT DEPARTMENTAL SECURITY
PURPOSE: The objective of this policy is to establish and disseminate guidance for the protection of the computer systems and network access for all users of technology within the KSU organization. All new and existing employees are expected to abide by its terms.
